THAT '70s SHOW

It’s a return to retro thanks to the autumn’s Seventies redux. Flares, pussy-bow blouses and a bucketload of denim will once again be firmly on our radar.

Taking stock of new season essentials seems a good way to distract myself from the shorter days and summer’s rays fading away – plus it will be a relief to have a stash of easy, go-to pieces each morning to help minimise the desperately chilly gaps between bed and shower, and shower and getting dressed.

Flares however tend to be intimidating territory for most. They're not always easy to wear – I don't think they work with anything too fussy and footwear can be a problem – but they're actually very flattering. Joining last year's MiH moleskin pair in my wardrobe are this denim pair by Wrap London. Forget a subtle bootcut, these really play with proportions going for a full shoe-covering, bell-bottom finish. The washed denim is super soft making them extremely comfortable too.

And as the winter months draw in and bare legs are no longer an option, it’s a relief to have a few alternatives to skinny jeans to pull on.
