NEW YORK SNOW
A recent trip to Annabel's to see New Yorker friend Claire Khodara sing reminded me I still have masses of heavenly New York pics to share. (The evening also involved shaking Lionel Richie's hand and listening to Lindsay Lohan talk with a thick Russian accent, but that's another story.) Plus with so many of you jetting off on paradise getaways for the long Bank Holiday weekend, and largely to snowy slopes, I thought I’d soothe myself with a throwback post to an awesome day in NYC from the end of January.
This batch of photos really revolves around the snow, which, a little like our recent solar eclipse, was hyped up to such extremities that it was only ever going to be an anti-climax. The predicted snowfall in New York meant that everyone other than emergency vehicles had to be off the road by 11pm and the Mayor closed all the school for the day, in preparation for what transpired to be a rather limp snow storm that wasn't really worthy of a name (she was christened Juno).
While it was a bit of a damp squib in the drama department, it did make for extremely pretty photos, and meant that with the weekend Olly had the best part of four consecutive days out of the office (‘Snow Days’) when we could go and get lost in the city together. Below are photos from a day exploring the shops in Soho, Central Park and Chelsea Market, an obscenely beautiful sunset (these photos have had no editing or brightening) and then off to see New Yorker friend Claire sing at The Pierre Hotel on the Upper East Side. XOXO.

Not actually Snow Day, in fact a few days before when we hadn't even realised there'd been snow until we headed Uptown, but I thought I'd throw in our cycling-around-Central-Park photos for good measure.
Snow Day meant a lot of the shops were shut...
But some were open...

And it was lucky for us Snow Day wasn't as serious as predicted because...
...despite warnings from other West Village locals to stock up just in case pipes froze and we were stuck inside, these were our emergency rations...
