A certain brand has been getting quite a lot of Instagram airtime at the moment, for the simple reason that I’m wearing her jewellery virtually every day.

I met Brooklyn-based jeweller Sofia Ramsay during my stay in NYC and instantly fell for the cool, tough boho edge she brings to her jewellery, all of which is handmade. Another big tick in my book is the fact that she’s an advocate of wearing mixed metals – some of her pieces are mixed metals in themselves – one of my favourite ways to stack jewellery. Sofia has worked for the likes of Steve Madden and created designs for Macy’s but, like so many of us in our twenties, was bursting to break onto the scene with her own designs.

Although I failed to bring any of her coloured pieces back across the pond, new for summer she’s just launched a bespoke colour multiplier series (see the Totem series on her website), where she creates pieces inspired by colours from a favourite piece of art or photography of your choice. The epitome of beach jewellery, teamed with flip-flops, salty hair and bikini, I’ll be putting an order in for a few brighter pieces now the clouds are beginning to lift.
